Well, it’s safe to say Ryan Bader has successfully rebounded from his knockout defeat to Anthony Johnson earlier this year. The perennial Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight contender capitalized on a grand opportunity to fend off a hungry up-and-comer when he met Ilir Latifi earlier today (Sat., Sept. 3, 2016) at UFC Fight Night 93 from Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg, Germany.
After a back-and-forth first round, Bader found a home for a crushing knee that sent Latifi to the canvass. Bader walked off knowing he had just ended the fight, while the crowd stood in amazement. It is Bader’s first knockout finish since defeating Jason Brillz at UFC 139 in 2011.
The memorable knockout finish can be seen below, courtesy of UFC:

With the win, Bader moves right back into contention at 205 pounds. He will have a lot more work to do before he can wiggle his way back into a No. 1 contender’s bout, but this is a huge showing for “Darth” who has been ridiculed in the past for not finishing lesser opponents.
