Lightweight Leonardo Santos won’t be competing at UFC Utica after all.
TUF Brazil 2 champion Leonardo Santos will have to wait a little longer to make his comeback. After complaining about being shunned by the UFC for over a year and a half, the Brazilian lightweight was scheduled to take on Nik Lentz at UFC Fight 131. However, MMA Fighting reported Santos has now had to pull out of the bout after fracturing his hand.
The 38-year-old Santos (16-3-1) is undefeated in the Octagon, with five wins and one draw under his belt. Currently on a four-fight winning streak, the Brazilian already defeated the likes of Efrain Escudero, Tony Martin, Kevin Lee and Adriano Martins, but hasn’t fought since October 2016.
So far, it’s unclear if Nik Lentz will remain on the card scheduled for June 1st. UFC Fight Night 131 will mark the first time the UFC will have held an event in Utica, New York. The card will be headlined by a bantamweight bout between contenders Jimmie Rivera and Marlon Moraes.
