Longtime Legacy Fighting Alliance headliner Kevin Aguilar is getting his shot at the big time.
The reigning LFA featherweight champion will move up to 155 pounds to fight Joey Gomez in the main event of the July 10 episode of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series. Aguilar is stepping in as a short-notice replacement for Rafael Fiziev.
The bout changed was officially announced on Tuesday’s Contender Series broadcast.
A standout in the LFA (formerly the Legacy Fighting Championship) since 2013, the 29-year-old Aguilar has successfully defended his 145-pound title three consecutive times, most recently finishing interim champion Thanh Le by first-round knockout to unify the belts.
Aguilar is currently on a six-fight win streak and his professional record stands at 14-1.
Gomez, 28, is an undefeated fighter out of Hilo, Hawaii. He is 7-0 in his pro career. In his last fight, he defeated Isaac Ware by first-round submission to capture the Prime Fighting lightweight title.
