In what was pitted as a bout between two of the best Bantamweight prospects in all of mixed martial arts (MMA), Thomas Almeida and Cody Garbrandt looked to put on a show for fight fans in the main event of UFC Fight Night 88 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
And one man didn’t disappoint, as Garbrandt took it too Almeida early and often.
After exchanging blows early on, “No Love” made sure to keep the pressure on the Brazilian prospect throughout the fight, stalking him all the way through, not giving him a moment to breath.
Moments after rocking Almeida with a left hook, Cody charged in and clocked his foe with a HUGE right hand the dropped him like an unwanted sack of potatoes. From there, it was elementary, as John McCarthy put an end to the bout before Cody could follow up with anymore clean shots.
Maybe one or two got in.
The win keeps Garbrandt undefeated (9-0, 4-0 UFC), while the loss is the first for Almeida’s career. Expect Garbrandt to crowd things a bit come Monday, as his latest knockout win should finally give him some respect he deserves and earn him a spot on the official rankings.
