Lowen Tynanes remains undefeated after a third round submission win against Rasul Yakhyaev in Cambodia. The Hawaiian dominated the ONE: ‘Kingdom of Khmer’ main event from start to finish before sinking in a rear naked choke early in the third round.
From the start of the fight, Tynanes set out his stall to take Yakhyaev down and they spent long periods of time clinching against the cage, looking to drop for single or double legs and landing the occasional knee or punch to the midsection.
When Tynanes finally did get the fight down in round one, he immediately looked to lock in a guillotine but run our of time. The second stanza followed a similar pattern with the Hawaiian pressing Yakhyaev up against the cage and eventually securing a takedown with 90 seconds remaining in the round.
The Russian was constantly defending takedowns and had no opportunity to launch his own offence. It was a thankless task that probably took its toll on Yakhyaev because by round three, he was powerless to prevent Tynanes from landing a double leg takedown.
