Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight champion Chris Weidman is convinced he deserves a rematch against Luke Rockhold, after coughing up his 185-pound strap in the co-main event of UFC 194 last month in Las Vegas, Nevada.
That could be a tough sell in the wake of Yoel Romero’s potential USADA violation.
While “Soldier of God” is left to deal with his drug test controversy and possible suspension from mixed martial arts (MMA), matchmakers are likely to move on to the next best candidate. And Weidman could find himself passed over for Ronaldo Souza.
“With doping or not, Jacare won that (Romero) fight,” manager Gilberto Faria told MMAFighting.com. “Nothing will be more fair than Jacare versus Luke Rockhold next.”

Souza, who came up on the wrong end of a split decision when he fought Romero at UFC 194, battled Rockhold to a close decision loss under the Strikeforce banner back in 2011. Prior to facing “Soldier of God,” the Brazilian was the winner of eight straight.
I could be down for Souza vs. Rockhold 2 … how about you?
