Tony Ferguson is officially on Khabib Nurmagomedov’s clock. Ali Abdelaziz, who manages the current No. 1-ranked Lightweight contender, has given Ferguson a deadline to come to financial terms with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) or lose out on a possible 155-pound title challenger eliminator match against “The Eagle.”
And it’s not a long one, either.
Perhaps he didn’t clear it with Nurmagomedov and Co., though, because Ali went on to delete the Tweet a few minutes later.
UFC President Dana White recently stated that Ferguson’s demands for higher pay has halted the much-anticipated match up from becoming official. Khabib went as far to offer “El Cucuy” a $200,000 bonus out of his own pocket to accept the 155-pound scrap. However, Ferguson declined the generous offer, saying he wants the promotion to pay him, not take cash from the Dagestani’s family.
You know, because of principles and all that.
Regardless of the now-deleted deadline, Nurmagomedov isn’t going to wait around forever for Ferguson and UFC to come to terms. And it’s only a matter time before UFC switches gears.
