Hours before Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo entered the Octagon to battle the for undisputed UFC featherweight championship in Las Vegas, heavyweight kingpin Fabricio Werdum told the media at the MGM Grand Garden Arena that “The Notorious'” team reached out to Rafael Cordeiro to train at Kings MMA for a few days.

“Conor McGregor wanted to train with us there,” Werdum said in a media scrum. “No way. Imagine us against Jose Aldo, our friend? We’re 100 percent with Aldo, the entire Kings MMA. There was a moment when someone said ‘Well, Conor wants to train with you’. I had no answer.

Rafael dos Anjos, who trains with Werdum at Kings MMA, also confirmed the story in a media day. However, McGregor’s manager Audie Attar refuted the claims.

He keeps his circle small, so this is someone making things up and feeding lies to Werdum. Kings is down the street from our offices in Orange County and I have the utmost respect for Rafael and that camp, but this just isn’t true.”
