Manny Pacquiao seems to have his sights set on his next opponent for the coming year.
Whether it is for the buzz, the grandeur, and everything that comes with it, almost every fighter wants a piece of Conor McGregor these days. Now, even eight-division world boxing champion Manny Pacquiao wants in on the action.
In a recent Instagram post, the Filipino boxer and senator issued an indirect and very cordial challenge to the UFC lightweight champion, aiming for a fight sometime in the coming year.
Happy Thanksgiving! Stay fit my friend. #realboxingmatch #2018 @thenotoriousmma
In a span of only a week’s time, Pacquiao becomes the second big-name boxer to come forward and express intentions to face McGregor under Queensberry rules. The first one was six-division champion Oscar De La Hoya, who claimed that he could take out the Irish fighter in as short as two rounds. Odds, however, have McGregor as the slight favorite against the 44-year-old De La Hoya, who hasn’t fought since losing to Pacquiao in 2008.
Pacquiao last fought in July where he dropped the WBO welterweight title via a controversial unanimous decision verdict against a then-unknown Jeff Horn in Brisbane, Australia.
