Mark Hunt is drawing closer towards a resolution against fellow heavyweight Brock Lesnar, UFC, and UFC president Dana White. According to a report by MMA Fighting, Hunt’s lawsuit filed against all three parties passed UFC’s motion to dismiss earlier this week, while Hunt’s team filed an amended complaint to the U.S. District Court in Nevada.
The amended complaint can be seen here.
If you remember, Hunt is suing Lesnar, White, and UFC, for allegedly committing racketeering, fraud, civil conspiracy and battery. Hunt’s claim stems from a failed drug test by Lesnar dating back to UFC 200. According to Hunt, all three parties colluded in pushing Lesnar to compete at UFC 200 despite knowing he was using performance-enhancing drugs. Hunt is claiming that he was not only put in danger physically, but that he was hurt financially.
Hunt, who lost to Lesnar via unanimous decision, has since demanded that Lesnar hand over all of his $2.5 million fight purse on the assumption that the WWE superstar knew he was juicing.
“LESNAR, WHITE, and UFC, acted in concert as set forth fully above, to defraud HUNT and commit a battery against HUNT by a scheme to knowingly pit HUNT, a clean fighter, against LESNAR, a doping fighter, to the wrongful benefit of Defendants and to the detriment of HUNT,” the complaint reads.
The complaint also lists a text exchange that Hunt and White had leading up to UFC 200. First, White attempted to ease Hunt’s mind about his concerns that Lesnar would be using PED’s by stating that “USADA is testing the shit outta him.” After Lesnar was granted exemption from the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) rule that returning fighters must complete four months of clean testing, White then again tried to play peacekeeper, informing Hunt that UFC had to “move to get a deal done” with WWE’s Vince McMahon.
“We went after Brock,” White texted to Hunt. “He has no problem doing whatever tests USADA wants.”
This is obviously just the tip of the iceberg. UFC’s request to dismiss the lawsuit has fallen on deaf ears, which leads us to believe that Hunt has a real chance to receive some sort of retribution for fighting, and losing to, Lesnar at UFC 200 last July.
