Looking back on his 2015 so far, featherweight prospect Matthew Lopez couldn’t be happier.
In two fights this year, Lopez has managed to pick up first-round finishes and keep his unblemished record. It’s the kind of success he attributes to being able to balance both his career and personal life.
“I think I’ve been able to find a medium,” said Lopez to MMAWeekly.com. “The way I live, the way I train, everything has just come together.
“My performances have been pretty good. They’ve been good, quality opponents. They’re not just guys that I’m supposed to run through. They’ve all been high-level opponents, so I’m happy with my finishes.”
Undefeated through his first six fights with all of them, but one being first-round finishes, Lopez admits there’s expectations on him to continue such a streak, but he’s able to take it in stride.
“I think the biggest pressure is keeping the ball rolling,” said Lopez. “If your last performance was a 40-second finish, it’s hard to top that, so I just train, go out there and look to put on an impressive performance.
