Mike Perry had an up-and-down night, dropping a hard-fought split decision to Vicente Luque in the UFC Uruguay co-main event, but also picking up an extra $50,000 for his troubles.
One thing is for sure: His war with Luque will leave him with an image he’ll never forget (and possibly a permanently rearranged nose).
A jumping knee by Luque in the third round caught Perry square in the face and while he finished the fight, the damage was evident as he was leaking blood all over Luque’s stomach while Luque tied him up in a guillotine choke.
The cameras caught clear shots of Perry’s disfigured nose from several angles on the live broadcast and UFC president Dana White shared a close-up of the injury on social media later that evening.
UFC reporter Heidi Androl later said on the broadcast that Perry was sent to the hospital for a CT scan and that he was having trouble breathing after the fight. Perry’s hospitalization was confirmed by UFC executive Dave Shaw at Saturday’s post-fight presser, but a full update is pending.
