MMA Rundown: November 30th – December 1st – DEEP JEWELS, LFA, JacksonWink, and more

75 0

There’s a lot of MMA this weekend. Two UFC events, two Bellator events, a major heavyweight boxing title on the line and a whole lot else. Now, there’s not a ton of superstar names on deck this week, but there are a lot of up and comers as well as consistent talents.

JacksonWink Fight Night 4 kicks off on Friday night with some great matchups. The headliner features sometime Bellator fighter Steve Garcia Jr. (7-3) against Abel Cullum (21-6) at bantamweight. Garcia’s had some performances that deliver, and Callum’s only lost to certified studs. Those losses include efforts against Hideo Tokoro, Wilson Reis, Jimmy Rivera, Jared Papazian and Masakazu Imanari. He holds wins over Akiyo Nishiura and former UFC fighter Ulysses Gomez.

Roufusport representative Kali Robbins (5-2) takes on the determined and savvy Celine Haga (10-15) in one of the most interesting women’s matchups outside of the UFC, Invicta or Bellator.

JacksonWink Fight Night 4 starts on Friday Night at 7:00pm EST.

Friday night brings us yet another LFA card live from Dallas, Texas.

Top billing goes to Miles Johns (7-0) and Adrian Yanes (7-2) duking it out for the vacant bantamweight title. Johns is a threat everywhere, and Yanes had nothing but finishes as an amateur. Since moving to pro, he’s only had two decision wins and does a great job at adjusting to his opponent’s approach.

Sarah Alpar (7-4) fights Panamanian Joselyne Edwards (8-1), who has been defeating increasingly tougher opposition. This is for the also vacant women’s bantamweight belt.

Raufeon Stots is a prospect to watch, and he’ll collide against another hot talent coming up in Levi Mowles (10-3) at bantamweight. Hulking welterweight Justin Patterson (10-4) comes to LFA after a string of Bellator fights to step in against Ramez Brahimaj (7-1). Brahimaj’s last performance was a win over former UFC fighter William “Patolino” Macario, whom he submitted in August via guillotine choke.

Also, former gymnast Hailey Cowan (1-1) fights Jessica Sotack (1-1) at flyweight.

LFA 55: Johns vs Yanez starts at 9:00pm EST on their usual home, AXS TV.

Saturday morning has a real treat, with DEEP JEWELS providing another all-women’s special. DEEP JEWELS champ Mina Kurobe (12-4) defends her 106lb title against Tomo Maesawa (11-8). Judoka and walking spectacle Reina Miura (9-2) faces tough German grappler Judith Ruis (4-3), who has losses to Stephanie Egger and Katharina Lehner, but holds a win over Melinda Fabian.

Strawweight has another German talent in Tanja Hoffman (6-4) stepping in against Mika Nagano (16-10). Nagano is very fun, as a submission specialist that made her debut against Megumi Fujii in a losing effort (because Megu), then went on to face the likes of Emi Fujino, Seo Hee Ham, Celine Haga, Mei Yamaguchi, Alex Chambers, Emi Tomimatsu and Tomo Maesawa, who headlines this event.

Lots of promise for these fights on the action front.

DEEP JEWELS 22 starts at 5:00am EST Saturday morning. No information is available for live streaming, but their fights should be added to their YouTube channel.

Later that morning, Serbian Battle Championship takes place in Novi Sad, with Damir Mijalovic (17-8) fighting Brazil’s Jhonny Carlos (7-3). Mijalovic has faced the likes of Hector Lombard and Elliot Marshal earlier in his career. Both were losses, but he was able to go back to the drawing board and rack up an undefeated streak from 2012-2016.

The ever active Tony Lopez (61-29) is scheduled to fight Judoka Satoshi Ishii (17-8, 1 draw) for the vacant heavyweight title.

Serbian Battle Championship 19 starts at 10:00am EST. The internet is your friend on this one.

Remember The Artist Formerly Known as Krazy Horse? He goes by Felony now.

And yes, he’s fighting again this weekend. Felony (government name Charles Bennett) (30-39, 2 draws) has fallen from his glory days of knocking out KJ Noons and putting on a legendary post-fight act, and he’ll be in Michigan fighting Zack Shaw (6-2) at Total Warrior Combat.

This event will be streaming live on FITE.tv, starting at 6:00pm EST.
