Another weekend of fisticuffs has come and gone, as UFC 201 went down last Saturday night (July 30, 2016) from inside the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.

Plenty of fighters were left licking their wounds, including Matt Brown, who was knocked out by Jake Ellenberger thanks to a perfectly-placed liver kick and follow up punches.

And Rose Namajunas, who saw her title hopes go out the window after losing a close split-decision to Karolina Kowalkiewicz in the co-main event of the evening (recap).

But which fighter is suffering from the worst post-fight hangover now 48 hours removed from the show?

Robbie Lawler.

“Ruthless” headed into “Hotlanta” looking for his third straight title defense after two wars in his previous two title fights against Rory MacDonald and Carlos Condit. He wasn’t looking for another “Fight of the Year” candidate, as Robbie declared prior to the bout he wanted to get in and out with a win as fast as possible.

Unfortunately for Lawler, the fight ended early, though it was him on the losing end after Tyron Woodley knocked him out with a viscous right hand in the middle of round one.

Lawler opted to play it cautious early, looking to measure Woodley’s speed and catch his timing. After a feeling out process, all it took was that one well-placed punch from “The Chosen One” to put Robbie down.

After a few more vicious follow up strikes, Woodley walked out of the Philips Arena the new kingpin of the 170-pound division.

Now, Lawler is left to pick up the pieces if he wants to get back to the big dance.
