Not everyone is thrilled to see an immediate rematch between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz.
The UFC featherweight champion will once again face Diaz at 170 pounds, this time headlining UFC 200 July 9 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Diaz scored a second-round submission in the pair’s first bout March 5 at UFC 196, tapping McGregor with a rear-naked choke. McGregor has claimed he was getting the better of Diaz up until the finish, battering Diaz with his left hand.
With McGregor busy with Diaz, the UFC interim featherweight title will be up for grabs the same night.
Former featherweight champion Jose Aldo will face former lightweight champ Frankie Edgar and the winner will go on to challenge McGregor, according to UFC president Dana White.
UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos isn’t so sure.
feel bad for Aldo and Edgar, after ufc200 Conor ll find another fight in a different division,so he can keep his belt for lil longer #coward
— Rafael dos Anjos (@RdosAnjosMMA) March 31, 2016
Dos Anjos was slated to defend his title to McGregor at UFC 196 but was forced to withdraw due to a broken foot. Aldo and Edgar were each offered the bout with McGregor but both declined.
Aldo already owns a win over Edgar, scoring a unanimous decision in a “Fight of the Night” at UFC 156 in 2013.
