community news, Nate Diaz responds to Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. announcement

Conor McGregor may have just picked up the biggest victory of his career without ever stepping foot in the cage, but Nate Diaz isn’t about to let him forget his biggest loss.

Earlier today, the long sought-after boxing match between McGregor and boxing great Floyd Mayweather Jr. was announced for Aug. 26 in Las Vegas. The fight is a coup for McGregor who will score the biggest payday of his combat sports career regardless of the outcome. But McGregor’s biggest rival was quick to remind everybody that McGregor is far from invulnerable.

It’s gonna be a good fight for that #2 spot.

Diaz is the last man to beat McGregor in MMA, submitting him with a rear-naked choke in the second round of their fight at UFC 196 last March. McGregor rebounded from that loss by winning a majority decision in the rematch at UFC 202 in August. McGregor went on to win the UFC lightweight title by stopping Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205.

“It’s gonna be a good fight for that #2 spot,” Diaz wrote.
