If Dana White is still looking for potential opponents to take on Nate Diaz at UFC 200 on July 9, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada, Neil Magny wants to have a word.
After Conor McGregor was bounced from his rematch against the aforementioned Diaz after failing to fulfill his media obligations, Magny took to Twitter to volunteer his services.
Fast forward a few weeks later, and he is still open to filling the void, as he revealed on The MMA Hour that he is currently training just in case his number is called. And should he get the chance to face a slugger like Diaz, he promises a bangfest that will rival that of the one Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar staged 11 years ago at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 1 Finale.
“The opportunity came up when I saw Conor McGregor pull out of the fight. Nate didn’t have an opponent at the time and I just thought it would be a great thing for me. Everyone ranked above me in welterweight division is preoccupied to fight so I thought why not pick a fight against Nate Diaz. It would be a huge opportunity for me to keep relevant. The opportunity to fight at UFC 200 would have been huge and against Nate Diaz, who is coming off an impressive win over McGregor would be huge for my career. I just saw the opportunity and it wasn’t anything personal against Nate Diaz, it was just the chance to fight him at UFC 200. That is a fight that would be great for the fans, as well.
