There is no doubt that top-caliber boxing knowledge and skills run deep within the Mayweather family, as pound-for-pound great Floyd Jr. has a resume that doesn’t need to be repeated, while his father and on again, off again trainer Floyd Sr. and his uncle, Roger, who also trains “Money,” have a rich history in the “Sweet Science.”
And while Floyd Sr. has played a big part in helping his son become the best boxer of this generation, maybe ever, he isn’t too sure he can do the same for Conor McGregor, who is hell-bent on fighting Floyd later this year.
“Brother, that right here is a no-can-do deal. I can’t make Conor McGregor turn around from being a caveman fighter, I don’t know what he is,” Floyd told Fight Hub.
Furthermore, Floyd says he will allow his son to take on the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UF)C lightweight champion while he lays out McGregor’s head trainer in the meantime.
“I’ll let my son fight McGregor and I’ll take on his trainer, whoever he is. I’ll knock his trainer out, I don’t even know who he is and I will knock him straight cold.”
The line in the sand has been set, John Kavanagh.
Conor is adamant that he when he does return to action it will be inside the boxing ring, not UFC’s Octagon. Promotion president Dana White, however, has pretty much stopped that plan in its tracks.
