Everyone knows that Valentina Shevchenko is next in line for a shot at Amanda Nunes’ title, but when that’ll happen is still up in the air.
The UFC is headed back to Brazil for a PPV event on June 3rd in Rio de Janeiro. The card is set to feature a title fight between UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo and interim champ Max Holloway. But, what about the UFC’s other Brazilian champ? After all, of their 12 current belt holders (including interim), only two of them are from Brazil. It might make sense to put both titles on the line in what may be the promotion’s only PPV card in the country this year.
That certainly seems to be what Amanda Nunes was thinking when the women’s bantamweight champion sent out a proposed fight date on twitter to top contender Valentina Shevchenko.
I see you June 3? @BulletValentina

Only it looks like some wires may have gotten crossed. Either that, or the UFC has already considered the idea and just isn’t interested. Shevchenko gave her reply, telling the champ, she’s all booked up until July.
UFC offered fight in Apr, you declined. Was told U would be back July. My schedule planned till July. Any where/anytime in July @Amanda_Leoa

Of course, that still leaves a ton of options, as the UFC currently has four events planned that month, including their annual International Fight Week triple-header. Assuming the bout gets slated for a PPV card, that could mean fans see Nunes vs. Shevchenko II on July 8th or 29th.
