Nutritionist Tyler Minton gives an update on Khabib Nurmagomedov’s weight during fight week.
Since his sudden pullout from his scheduled interim title fight against Tony Ferguson at UFC 209 last March, Khabib Nurmagomedov has been hounded by criticisms from disappointed fans, and rightfully so. But Khabib himself has been confident about his weight entering his UFC 219 fight against Edson Barboza.
“Now, my weight is good. Three weeks out, I will lose 3 or 4 pounds,” Khabib said in his recent update on his weight. “Two weeks, another 4 pounds. The last week, I’m going to cut, like, 13 pounds. I have never been this light. The last week will be 13 to 15 pounds.”
Most fighters competing this weekend are already in Las Vegas to begin their fight week preparations. Among them is team Nurmagomedov, and they gave another weight update upon arrival through nutritionist Tyler Minton.
The UFC wants fighters no higher than 10% of their weight class on arrival. Two meals and a lot of water later, @TeamKhabib weighs in more than a pound UNDER. Sorry haters… #nutritionist #lockhartandleith #khabibnurmagomedov #ufc219 pic.twitter.com/AksT9X7hhA

Khabib recognizes the fact that fans are intently tuned in to see if he would indeed make the 155-pound limit, which is why he took it upon himself to “change a lot of things” to keep his weight and conditioning in check.
UFC 219 takes place on Saturday, December 30th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
