Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight contender Terry Etim, who hasn’t competed since his 2013 win over Patrick Cenoble under the Bellator MMA banner, was (finally) released from the hospital last week.
That’s according to The Liverpool Echo.
The 31-year-old Etim was reportedly acting erratically and threw himself into traffic back in late February in Liverpool, England, colliding with several vehicles and nearly getting himself killed.
“His friends were running after him and trying to restrain him on the floor but he managed to break free and was running in and around all the cars,” an eyewitness said. “He wasn’t trying to harm anybody but himself. He was covered from head to toe in blood.”
Etim (16-5) compiled a 6-5 record with the world’s largest mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion before parting ways with UFC to try his luck with Bellator MMA. After just one fight on Spike TV, the talented Brit simply faded away.
The reason behind last month’s incident, or his psychological condition, remain unclear.
