ONE: “Titles & Titans” is headlined by a welterweight fight between a former champion and a former challenger. Luis Santos and Igor Svirid seldom go the distance and the main event at the Jakarta Convention Centre this Saturday could be a bout to remember.
The co-main event is a potential title eliminator in the middleweight division with promotional veteran Jake Butler taking on Karate specialist Marcin Prachnio. The top half of the card also features rising lightweight prospect Saygid Guseyn Arslanaliev.
Here’s my preview of the last four fights (as always with ONE weights are normal walking weight). For part one click here.
170lbs.: Saygid Guseyn Arslanaliev vs Jietebusibai Haolan
While Christian Lee has taken the plaudits the best prospect on the ONE Championship roster is probably not the Singaporean / Korean featherweight but a lightweight fighter from Dagestan. Saygid Guseyn Arslanaliev (3-0) was sent to a boarding school specializing in Wushu at the age of 5 and has been training ever since.
He’s now based in Istanbul and has placed on the podium at numerous grappling tournaments in Europe. Arslanaliev has destroyed both his ONE Championship opponents to date in under a round and will probably do the same thing to promotional newcomer Jietebusibai Haolan (1-2).
155lbs.: Vincent Latoel vs Edward Kelly
Edward Kelly (7-3) is coming off the biggest win of his career against previously undefeated Australian Jordan Lucas and has actually overtaken his brother Eric in the rankings. They both share a similar skill set with Wushu style striking and the ability to lock in rear naked chokes from unorthodox angles.
Vincent Latoel (17-17-2) has a 5 cm height advantage and will probably look to use his height and reach. These two have 12 ONE Championship fights between then looks to be a well matched contest which could go either way.
