ONE: “Warrior Kingdom” is set for the Impact Arena in Bangkok this Saturday night (March 11, 2017) local time and sees two undefeated female fighters clash as reigning atomweight champion Angela Lee makes the first defense of her title against Jenny Huang.

The card is stacked with Thai fighters, there are seven of them in action, including former strawweight champion Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke and rising lightweight star Shannon Wiratchai. There’s also another chance to see undefeated strawweight prospect Pongsiri Mitsatit in action.

Here’s my preview of the second half of the card (for part one click here). As always with ONE Championship weights listed are walking weights.

136.7 lbs.: Yodsanan Sityodtong vs Ramon Gonzales

Everyone knows that Yodsanan Sityodtong (2-1) was a world champion at boxing but he has also fought Muay Thai at the highest level. Basically, you are never going to get the better of him in a standup fight and the key to beating the Thai veteran is to take him down.

Ramon Gonzales (1-1) has a first degree black belt in Kyokushin Karate but Yodsanan won’t be losing too much sleep about that. Thai fighters can be susceptible to spinning strikes though, reigning Lumpinee champion Wanchalong Sitsornong got knocked out with one in Japan recently, so the Filipino could just catch the veteran boxer with something. I wouldn’t bet on it though.

125 lbs.: Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke vs Joshua Pacio

Thai fighters like to stay active but Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke (6-1) hasn’t fought in nearly a year. He turned 38 during that period and faces a tough test against an up and coming contender who is improving all the time and looked very good against Yoshitaka Naito last time out.

Joshua Pacio (8-1) has a Wushu style of striking that could cause Dejdamrong some problems although the stand up credentials of the former Lumpinee champion are impeccable. The Filipino will probably be looking for takedowns although if the former champion is not at his sharpest he could easily get caught with something. Intriguing matchup.

170 lbs.: Shannon Wiratchai vs Richard Corminal

Shannon Wiratchai (6-1-0-1) has fought six times for ONE Championship and no opponent has ever really gotten the better of him. He dropped a decision to Bashir Ahmad largely because he spent the final round taunting and smiling instead of throwing actual strikes.

The Thai possesses knockout power and incredible composure in the cage. He’s very comfortable fighting and should have far too much for promotional newcomer Richard Corminal (4-1) who has been in with some decent opponents but no-one of Wiratchai’s calibre

115 lbs.: Angela Lee vs Jenny Huang (for Lee’s atomweight title)

Angela Lee (6-0) is the biggest female star Asian MMA has ever known and the win over Mei Yamaguchi last year showed exactly where her strengths and weaknesses lie. She’s very good on the ground and holds a BJJ brown belt but her grappling for MMA is at a much higher level than that.

Unfortunately for Huang (5-0) her skillset is exactly the same but she holds a blue belt in BJJ. She also has very strong Judo skills but striking doesn’t seem to be her specialty and if standup is a hole in Lee’s game than it’s questionable whether the Taiwanese atomweight has what it takes to exploit this potential weakness.

All signs point towards a successful title defence for Lee.

ONE: “Warrior Kingdom” is set for Saturdaynight (local time) at the Impact Arena and can be purchased for $9.99 from here.
