Earlier this year, Peter Sobotta went on Twitter to accuse Emil Meek of turning down an offer to fight him inside the Octagon. Then, hours after his win at UFC Fight Night 109, Sobotta followed-up by saying he’s no longer interested in fighting “Valhalla”.

“I don’t care about this guy,” Sobotta said at the UFC Fight Night 109 post-fight press conference. “For me, it was a good fight stylistic. In my opinion, he’s overrated. He has one good win against (Rousimar) Palhares with a lucky punch. I think with 100 fights against Palhares, he would win one. The other 99 he would lose.

“Now he’s in the UFC, he won one fight and he starts to call out people. Then they offered him a fight against me, he refused to take the fight, then they offered him Nordine and he said yes, and two weeks before the fight he said he’s injured.”

Sobotta stopped Ben Saunders in impressive fashion Sunday in Stockholm, Sweden, knocking out Saunders in the second round at UFC Fight Night 109. Meek pulled out of a fight against Nordine Taleb on the same card.

Taleb ultimately fought undefeated newcomer Oliver Enkamp instead of Meek and won via unanimous decision. Yet, Sobotta is not convinced that Meek is really injured.

“On Thursday, I was in the workout room in the hotel and I saw him doing stretches I couldn’t do, and I’m not injured,” Sobotta said. “I don’t know if it’s true or not, maybe he’s looking for big fights he just wanted a way out. I’m not interested in fighting guys like him. I want to fight real fighters, not clowns.”

A winner of four of five bouts in his second run inside the Octagon, Sobotta said he won’t call anyone out, but that his dream match would be against Demian Maia, to test his grappling skills, or Gunnar Nelson.

Maia is expected to face Tyron Woodley for the UFC welterweight championship, while “Gunni” is slated to headline the UFC’s upcoming show in Scotland opposite Santiago Ponzinibbio.
