A potential bantamweight barnburner is now right back on track.
After Douglas Silva de Andrade was forced to pull out of his September 15 bout against Russian prospect Petr Yan at UFC Fight Night 136, ESPN’s Ariel Helwani reported on his Twitter that the fight has been booked again, but for UFC 232.
A rising prospect in the bantamweight division, Petr Yan (10-1) will try for his third straight Octagon win, after already defeating the likes of Jin Soo Son and Teruto Ishihara in his last couple of bouts. The 25-year-old’s only loss happened in March 2016, when Yan was bested by Magomed Magomedov via split decision. A defeat which ‘No Mercy’ avenged via unanimous decision just one year later.
Douglas Silva de Andrade (25-2-1 NC) will try to put together a new win streak after defeating Marlon Vera by unanimous decision in February. Before the win, the Brazilian was submitted by Rob Font in July 2017. The loss snapped a two-fight win streak over the likes of Cody Gibson and Henry Briones.
UFC 232 is set for the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, December 29th. The card will be headlined by a rematch for the light heavyweight title between former champion Jon Jones and the challenger, Alexander Gustafsson.
