Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world champion Gabi Garcia, undefeated in mixed martial arts (MMA) at 3-0, stands well over six-feet tall and tips the scale north of 200 pounds. So it would, of course, make sense to pair her off against 52-year-old politician Shinobu Kandori, who hasn’t competed in combat sports in nearly 17 years and stands just 5’7”.
Welcome to Japan, motherfuckers.
Before we chastise Japan for allowing (and encouraging) freak-show fights, let’s have a moment of silence for that 68-year-old granny who got her ass whooped by a 24-year-old pro last February in Colorado (watch it again here).
[Hold for USA! chants]
Garcia, fresh off her first-round drubbing of Destanie Yarbrough, returns to action at the year-end RIZIN show, which also features the promotion’s open-weight grand prix tournament with Mirko Jacked Cop and Wanderlei Silva (more on that here).
Kandori, to her credit, is an Olympic judoka and former pro wrestler.
