Reigning Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight champion Conor McGregor withdrew from his Nate Diaz rematch at UFC 200 by way of faux retirement — despite being the one who demanded it — because he doesn’t want to be bogged down with media obligations while he trains.

Sure, the spotlight was all well and good when he was winning, and yes he’s not even a welterweight fighter, but when you’re the biggest star in mixed martial arts (MMA) you get to make these kinds of demands and wait for the rest to fall in line.

Looks like the boys down in Stockton didn’t get the memo.

That includes Diaz, who absorbed a one-sided beating in the first round of his McGregor fight at UFC 196, only to come back and strangle “Notorious” into submission.

I guess this latest Instagram post from Jake Shields, which puts their respective tweets side-by-side, leaves Diaz up two-zip.
