In the past, 115-pound fighters in Asia were faced with a choice between either moving up a division or trying to earn a contract with one of the very few promotions to offer strawweight fights. That situation has started to change and Pongsiri Mitsatit has been one of the main beneficiaries.
The Thai teenager is already 5-0 and being tipped for the top. It helps that he’s able to fight frequently, his match-up at Full Metal Dojo 7 this Saturday will be Mitsatit’s third MMA fight of the year and he also competes regularly in Muay Thai.
“I am not exactly sure how many Muay Thai fights I have had this year, but I think it is 10 or 11. I have been fairly active this year. Fighting for FMD is very different from Muay Thai, but I really enjoy it because the crowd is always intense and the atmosphere is very good.”
