Quinton “Rampage” Jackson makes his return to Bellator MMA June 24 at Bellator MMA: Dynamite 2.
MMA Fighting has confirmed the former UFC light heavyweight champion Jackson (36-11) will face Olympic gold medalist Satoshi Ishii in a catchweight bout of 215 pounds that will headline the event. ESPN originally reported the news Tuesday evening.
Jackson has not competed since April 2015, when he defeated Fabio Maldonado via unanimous decision at UFC 186. Prior to that, “Rampage” had a successful three-fight stint with Bellator, going 3-0 with two knockouts. After facing Maldonado inside the UFC Octagon, a contract settlement brought him back to Bellator, where he now faces Ishii.
A 2008 Olympic gold medalist in judo, Ishii brings a 14-5-1 record to his bout opposite Jackson. Throughout his professional MMA career – which began in December 2009 – Ishii has competed against fighters such as Fedor Emelianenko, Mirko Cro Cop, Jerome Le Banner, and Tim Sylvia.
Most recently, he lost via knockout to Jiri Prochazka at Rizin Fighting Federation 1 in December 2015.
