Looking back on 2015, World Series of Fighting President Ray Sefo feels the company has had a strong year, both in the quality of its fights and in the dominance of its champions.
“We’ve had a really great year,” Sefo told MMAWeekly.com. “Justin Gaethje and Luis Palomino had their first fight and then the rematch and put it all on the line and had a candidate for Fight of the Year. We’ve had really good shows, continue to move forward and had a really great year.
“The ultimate goal for any fighter is to become champion, and the ultimate goal for any league is to put on good shows and find the best talent out there, and I think we’ve achieved both.”
Not only did lightweight champion Gaethje have yet another stellar year, Sefo points out that bantamweight beltholder Marlon Moraes and dual titlist David Branch also shined in 2015.

“Marlon is one of the best fighters in the world, and he continues to prove it to everyone who doubts him,” said Sefo. “He fights to the ability of his opponent; meaning the tougher the opponent, Marlon rises to the occasion.
“David is an inspirational story coming from his beginnings to come to MMA and become one of the most complete fighters out there, and now become the only guy in MMA to hold two world titles consecutively.”
As for Sefo himself, while he’s not actively seeking to compete again, he doesn’t close the door on possibly getting into the cage one last time.
