Stephen Thompson vs. Darren Till is reportedly in the works to headline the UFC’s event in Liverpool in late May.
Since November of last year, the UFC has been looking to make a fight between Darren Till and former welterweight title contender Stephen Thompson. However, “Wonderboy’s” father Ray was uninterested in the matchup at the time, saying they prefer to “fight forward.”
The 25-year-old Till has been vocal about his intentions about his opponents, and as of late, he has been angling for a fight with Thompson as well. In a recent interview, the outspoken English fighter said he intends to knock Thompson out and “devastate his life.”
Till may just get what he is looking for, after reports surfaced on Thursday that Thompson agreed to make the fight happen for the UFC’s upcoming event in Liverpool, England. The news was first reported by BJPenn.com’s Chris Taylor and was later concurred by MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani, who says the fight is close to being a done deal.

Close. UFC has wanted that one for months, and it’s close, but not 100% at this moment. https://t.co/imp8SBbvCU

Thompson last saw action at UFC 217 in New York City last November where he won via unanimous decision against Jorge Masvidal.
UFC Liverpool is scheduled to take place on May 27th.
