It now looks as if “The Phenom” has his final curtain call in place. Per a recent report by Combate, Vitor Belfort will make his last walk to the Octagon in a matchup with veteran Nate Marquardt at UFC 212 on June 3 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside Jeunesse Arena from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Belfort, 40, is on the last leg of his stellar MMA career. The former UFC light heavyweight champion has lost four out of his last five UFC appearances, including a recent TKO loss to Kelvin Gastelum at UFC Fight Night 106, but still stands as one of the most popular names in the sport. After his loss to Gastelum, Belfort made it known that he has one last fight left.
Marquardt, 38, is coming off a decision loss to Sam Alvey at UFC on FOX 23. The middleweight veteran has since mixed results since returning to the division back in 2014, but can immediately jump back into the mix if he’s able to defeat Belfort on enemy territory.
UFC 212 will be headlined by a featherweight title unification bout between current champion Jose Aldo and current interim king Max Holloway.
