Ronda Rousey wasn’t content with just being a guest host Wednesday on ESPN’s SportsCenter. She dropped some knowledge, too.
The UFC women’s bantamweight champion did a mini-seminar on her signature armbar, broke down famous sports brawls and even suggested that Kobe Bryant should retire from the Lakers. Now, that’s a busy hour of television.
Rousey, who defends her title against Holly Holm in the main event of UFC 193 on Nov. 15 in Melbourne, Australia, was the first female athlete to guest host the show and she did so alongside veteran anchor Lindsay Czarniak. “Rowdy” was a little awkward at first. But by the time she was cajoling MLB analyst Tim Kurkjian to be on the receiving end of an armbar, she was good to go.
Perhaps the most controversial moment came when NBA reporter Marc Stein asked Rousey what her advice would be to NBA all-time great Kobe Bryant, who has been contemplating retirement.
