The UFC women’s bantamweight continues to be in a state of flux, with its belt changing hands three times over as many fights.

But whether you like it or not, all roads lead back to Ronda Rousey — and on Friday, the division’s former queen made her most definitive statement yet that she is still in the hunt.

“I want to win my belt back,” Rousey announced after being asked what she had left to accomplish at a conference hosted by Robin Roberts.

Rousey, 29, remains one of the most bankable stars in the UFC, but has largely disappeared from the public eye since suffering a stunning defeat at the hands of Holly Holm in Nov. 2015.

That loss brought an end to Rousey’s iconic run as Strikeforce and UFC champion, during which Rousey (12-1) parlayed her success into global prominence with movie roles and a New York Times best-selling autobiography.

The bantamweight division has turned into a game of hot potato in her absence, with Holm forfeiting the belt to Miesha Tate, then Tate stumbling at the hands of Amanda Nunes at UFC 200. However despite the divisional upheaval, UFC President Dana White has insisted that Rousey will get the first shot that the title upon her return, whenever that may be.

While Rousey has hesitated to commit to a timetable for her return, that may be changing soon. On Friday, Rousey relayed a story from her teenage days to describe her current mental state, recalling a time in judo when she was lost to a girl in Junior Nationals only to face her again the following year.
