Ronda Rousey’s mom reacts to UFC 207 knockout loss: ‘I am very proud of my daughter’

Ronda Rousey’s return to mixed martial arts (MMA) did not go as planned last night (Fri., Dec. 30, 2016) at UFC 207 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, as she lost to women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes in 48 seconds. While Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) president Dana White believes Rousey will handle the loss better than she did her defeat to Holly Holm back at UFC 193, Rousey’s comeback tour ended in vicious fashion.

Rousey’s mom, AnnMaria De Mars, took to her personal blog after UFC 207 to defend her daughter and shed light on the superstar’s unwavering accomplishments. She posted the following:

All of those who have criticized Ronda for taking a loss so to heart, for not just ‘shrugging it off’ don’t understand that what made Ronda so successful is that she cares DEEPLY about winning to an extent that I don’t believe the average person can wrap his/her head around.

Caring deeply about something and working your hardest to achieve it doesn’t mean you make the right decisions 100% of the time. Wouldn’t it be a nicer world if it did?

Those of you who want to criticize Ronda, I just want to point out a few things. First of all, I know her better than you and she is a smart, kind, talented, generous, hard-working person.

I am very proud of my daughter.

Remember, De Mars was opening critical of Rosuey’s coaching staff after her loss to Holm 13 months ago. She’s an outspoken member of the Rousey team and a quintessential mom when it comes to defending her daughter’s honor.
