Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight Rousimar Palhares, who tried (and failed) to turn over a new leaf under the World Series of Fighting (WSOF) banner, has been hiding out in Brazil while the dust settles from his latest meltdown.

Not even a disciplinary hearing from Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) could lure him stateside.

No matter, as Palhares and his manager Alex Davis were present and accounted for earlier today (Thurs., Oct. 29, 2015) via Skype to explain why he refused to release his submission hold against Jake Shields, who succumbed to the Brazilian at WSOF 22 last August (watch it).

“Toquinho” presented his side of the story, quite poorly I might add, and NSAC dropped the proverbial hammer.

As a result, Palhares was suspended two years and fined $40,000 (plus Attorney General fees), according to Bleacher Report, in addition to the recent ban he received from his employer, who also stripped him of the 170-pound title.
