Season 3 of Malaysian Invasion MMA (MIMMA) reached its conclusion at Stadium Putra in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday night. In total there were 14 amateur fights on the card with champions crowned in eight different categories.
Several of the Season 2 winners were back to defend their belts and no one did so in more emphatic fashion than Darren Low. The heavyweight champion took just 13 seconds to finish Niker Tan with a one-two combination doing the damage.
The most entertaining fight of the night was the five-round brawl between reigning flyweight champion Seah Zhang Yu and challenger Dhiaaul Amal. In the end it was the Season 2 winner who prevailed by way of unanimous decision after slightly getting the better of a series of frantic striking exchanges.
A number of former MIMMA champions have gone on to enjoy success in the professional ranks with Season 2 170-pound winner Agilan Thani and Keanu Subba both registering wins at Friday night’s ONE: Tigers of Asia card in the same venue.
Next in line for a contract with Asia’s biggest MMA promotion could well be newly crowned 185-pound champion Meeraj Omar. He is a Sanda veteran and undefeated professional boxer but stopped Syafiq Jamal with ground ….View original article
