Last week he was a chicken. This week he is a rodent.
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight and longtime PRIDE FC icon Mirko Filipovic is no longer fighting Wanderlei Silva at the upcoming RIZIN Open-Weight Grand Prix later this week in Japan.
Silva, who earned a bye in the first round of the tournament, blamed existing injuries for his decision to withdraw, and “Cro Cop” no longer wishes to comment on such a “small mouse.”
Filipovic and Silva first went to war under the PRIDE FC banner, fighting to a draw way back in 2002. They would run it back roughly four years later when “The Axe Murderer” succumbed to a first-round head kick.
If and when they ever complete their trilogy remains to be seen.
Until then, the show must go on, which means the Croat will now face former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal for the chance to advance in the tourney.
