Fight fans were disappointed to learn the C.M. Punk’s Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debut was halted after the former WWE star-turned mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter suffered a shoulder injury during training.

The good news, though, is that the injury isn’t so severe that he’ll need surgery, as Punk — real name Phil Brooks — revealed on “The MMA Hour” that he didn’t have any major tears as initially feared. And after “dodging the bullet,” Punk says he’ll hope to have a better timeframe for his Octagon debut in January.
“I dodged a bullet. The doctor and the MRI said that nothing was torn. We were originally concerned that it was labrum or rotator cuff, and that’s not the case. I might have torn something slightly, unfortunately MRI’s aren’t always conclusive is what the doctor said to me. Which is probably the worst thing you can say to me because now I’m all fucking paranoid that something is torn and it isn’t getting any better.
