UFC 200 may be getting another battle between top-five fighters.
As reported on UFC Tonight on Wednesday, a bantamweight rematch between former champion T.J. Dillashaw and Rapahel Assuncao is in the works for the big milestone card in Las Vegas.
Dillashaw and Assuncao fought at UFC Fight Night 29 in 2013, with the Brazilian taking a narrow split decision victory.
That fight would be the last that the former Team Alpha Male fighter Dillashaw would lose for the next two years. The 30-year-old Dillashaw (12-3) rattled off four victories in a row, including a dominant performance over Renan Barao at UFC 173 to take home the 135-pound title. He later repeated the feat at UFC on FOX 16 in July of last year.
Dillashaw lost the title to Dominick Cruz at UFC Fight Night 81 in Boston.
Assuncao, 33, has been sidelined for more than a year-and-a-half with injuries. However, the 33-year-old has won seven straight fights dating back to his UFC 134 victory over Johnny Eduardo in 2011. He last appeared against Bryan Caraway at UFC Fight Night 54, scoring a unanimous decision victory.
UFC 200 takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on July 9. The event will feature a light heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier in the main event, as well as an interim featherweight title bout between Frankie Edgar and Jose Aldo. Both fights are rematches.
