The Mixed Martial Arts Athletes Association (MMAAA) came onto the scene with a vengeance after a much-discussed press conference last November.

Since then? Not so much. There has been little-to-nothing in terms of public follow-up from the first major attempt at a fighters association that ever saw the light of day.

It’s been so low-key, in fact, that one of the fighters who was a part of the big rollout isn’t sure what’s going on with the group.

“I haven’t heard much from it either, so, really I just tend to stay out of it,” T.J Dillashaw said on a recent edition of The MMA Hour. “I don’t know if I was led down the wrong path or what.”

Dillashaw was joined that inaugural day by Georges St-Pierre, Cain Velasquez, Donald Cerrone, Tim Kennedy, and former Bellator promoter Bjorn Rebney. But with the exception of the now-retired Kennedy, few within the group have made any substantive comments about their activities in the MMAAA since.

For his part, Dillashaw seems more concerned about focusing on what in front of him than on the sport’s bigger picture.

“I’m just kind of keeping my nose to the ground, getting my belt back and worried about that really, you know? … I have no idea what’s going on. I was told there was something bigger and more into it, but I haven’t heard anything about it, so I don’t really, I can’t really tell you much about it.”
