For losing out on the chance to take on current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight champion Michael Bisping, both Yoel Romero and Ronaldo Souza seem to be taking the news rather well.
Key word: Seem.
After the promotion dropped the bombshell that Georges St-Pierre would be facing “The Count” for the 185-pound strap in his first fight back in over three years, Romero’s camp wished “GSP” well, but failed to acknowledge Bisping.
It’s a rather tepid response from “Soldier of God’s“ side, seeing as how he was pretty much promised the next title fight, and a far cry from the the previous, much harsher callouts the grappling standout had toward his rival.
Now, another top middleweight is chiming in on the blockbuster news, as Souza’s management team offered up a response. Instead of bashing the Brit — as usual — they seemed to have paid him a compliment.
From Jacare’s management: “Michael ‘The Count’ Bisping is now Michael ‘The King’ Bisping, he just got promoted! Money fights win again.”

Too many kings, not enough crowns.
Souza himself has been lobbying for a shot at the strap, or at the very least, a rematch against Romero in order to earn a ticket to the big dance (and get some revenge in the process).
On the heels of Bisping’s “promotion,” it seems a do-over between “Jacare” and Romero is likely, especially since the “GSP” fight doesn’t have an official date, as he has to clear the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) protocols.
That could take some time.
Plus, “The Count” is still on the mend from recent knee surgery, which means his title defense against “Rush” likely won’t happen until mid or late summer of 2017, which gives him plenty of time to lose some of that weight for his “big-money fight.”
It’s good to be “The Count” “The King.”
