Ten fight UFC veteran, Ramsey Nijem, returns to MMA with World Series of Fighting (WSOF)

World Series of Fighting (WSOF) 33: “Gaethje vs. Dugulubgov” takes place at Kansas City Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo., on Oct. 7, 2016. Ahead of its next big show, WSOF seems to be in “talent acquisition” mode, inking the former The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 13 finalist, Ramsey Nijem, to a new contract.

Nijem most recently competed at UFC on FOX 16: “Dillashaw vs. Barao 2” in July 2015, dropping a close split decision to Andrew Holbrook (29-28, 28-29, 29-28). It marked the second consecutive defeat for Nijem inside the Octagon and his fourth loss in six attempts, compelling the promotion to release him from his contract. However, during his tenure, Nijem had no shortage of tough competition, losing to the likes of Myles Jury and James Vick, but also getting quality wins over the likes of Justin Edwards and Beneil Dariush, adding a little more polish to his overall professional record (9-6).

For those reasons, WSOF seems happy to take a chance on bringing Nijem back to mixed martial arts (MMA) after his one-year hiatus. “We have been aggressively pursuing some of the best available fight talent on the market and as a phenomenal and established competitor,” said company President Ray Sefo. “Ramsey Nijem should make an exciting addition to our stacked, 155-pound division.”

Nijem’s first fight hasn’t been announced yet, but if there’s no room for him on WSOF 33 he can certainly watch the undefeated Justin Gaethje defend the Lightweight title against Ozzy Dugulubgov while considering his options.
