Now that former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre has been put in time out by promotion president Dana White, it’s time to find a new challenger for reigning middleweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre.
You won’t have to look very far.
That’s because division No. 1 contender Yoel Romero is sitting at home waiting for the call to collide with “The Count” this July, at any one of the many fight cards scheduled for Las Vegas, Nevada (see them here).
“Soldier of God” has opened as a -360 betting favorite over the brash Brit, who limps into their 185-pound showdown as the +260 underdog. That’s according to the early lines from our fiscal friends at Sportsbook (via Best Fight Odds).
Sounds about right to me.
Bisping (30-7) has not competed since squeaking past Dan Henderson at UFC 204 back in October. Romero (12-1), meanwhile, has been riding the pine since smashing Chris Weidman last November.
Personally, I think I might be more interested in seeing the odds on when “The Count” will actually return to the Octagon.
The show must go on!
