Connor Ruebusch and Patrick Wyman break down the technical bits of UFC 217, from its three crazy title fights to its stacked undercard.
UFC 217 was absolutely fantastic. There was plenty weird about it. Odd officiating, mental lapses on the parts of experienced fighters, and a whole lot of bizarre numerical coincidences in the three title fights. More than anything, however, it was an event at which all three of the defending champions lost their belts–the first time the UFC has ever seen so much divisional change in so little time.
On this week’s Heavy Hands, we take a look at Georges St-Pierre’s remarkable comeback win over Michael Bisping, T.J. Dillashaw’s triumph over hated rival Cody Garbrandt, and Rose Namajunas’ mind-blowing, first-round knockout of dominant champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Yes, we cover other fights (and a few set for next week’s card, as well), but this week, it’s all about the belts.
