Tito Ortiz bashes ‘broke’ Chuck Liddell after ‘Iceman’ suggests trilogy fight in staredown pic

The history between former UFC champions Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz is lengthy and chock-full of bad blood. Liddell knocked Ortiz out both times the light heavyweights squared off inside of the Octagon and apparently hasn’t had enough. In a recent Instagram submission (shown below), “The Iceman” suggests locking horns with Ortiz for a third time.

Why not?

Liddell, 47, recently had lunch with Bellator president Scott Coker and has made it known that he’s open to coming out of retirement for another fight. Ortiz, on the other hand, is not having any of it. After closing out his career this past January with a submission win over Chael Sonnen at Bellator 170, the 42-year-old isn’t looking to hop back into the cage just yet, posting the following to Twitter earlier today:

@Chuckliddell because I don’t need the money. Suck that you need the money. I can lend you some cash if so. photo

Whether Ortiz actually wants to stay retired or not, he’s doing a good job in goading Liddell with some social media trash talk. It may not make sense for Ortiz to get back into the cage with a fighter who dismantled him on two separate, yet equally violent, occasions, but he would score a huge payday for the potential trilogy fight.

If Ortiz doesn’t change his mind about fighting “Iceman,” and Liddell continues to pursue a comeback outside of UFC, fellow legendary names like Fedor Emelianenko, Wanderlei Silva, and even Chael Sonnen will begin to surface as potential opponents.

Until anything is made official, Liddell’s comeback will remain speculation.
