community news, Tony Ferguson: If Conor ‘McNuggets’ is man enough, he’ll defend UFC lightweight title

It’s been well-documented that Conor McGregor has never defended neither of the four world titles he’s won in mixed martial arts (MMA) dating back to his days as dual champion for Cage Rage.

Now that he has been stripped of his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight title (we think), he still has the opportunity to defend his Lightweight strap. That is, of course, if he’s man enough, according to Tony Ferguson.

“Who knows if ‘McNuggets’ is going to come in there and defend his belt. That poor bastard has never defended even one belt in his entire life,” Ferguson told MMA Junkie.

A potential bout that could derail Conor from defending his title in 2017 is a potential blockbuster, history-making boxing match against Floyd Mayweather. But if he wants to box, all he has to do is step into the cage with “El Cucuy.”

“If he’s trying to box – I will go toe-to-toe with that mother(expletive), and I will knock him out. That dude is going to try to go with (Floyd) Mayweather, the Olympic boxer? It’s OK, son. It’s a completely different sport. Come back over here, 155-pound division and defend your belt if you’re really man enough,” concluded Tony.

Of course, before Ferguson can get a title fight against “Notorious,” he has to take care business against Khabib Nurmagomedov, as the two men are set to co-headline UFC 209 on March 4, 2017 in a five-round interim title fight (details here).

Should he prove victorious, he has to hope Conor is up to defending his title for the first time in his career.
