community news, Trainer: Anderson Silva negotiating UFC 198 return, open to Gegard Mousasi fight

Remember that controversial loss to Michael Bisping at UFC Fight Night 84?

Anderson Silva is over it. In fact, the former UFC middleweight champion is already negotiating his Octagon return, and could find himself a part of the UFC 198 pay-per-view (PPV) event this May inside Arena da Baixada stadium in Curitiba, Brazil.

In addition, trainer Rogerio Camoes told Sherdog.com “The Spider” is entertaining potential fights against Gegard Mousasi and Tim Kennedy:

“I talked to him yesterday and he told me that he’s still negotiating to fight in Curitiba, and the final decision hasn’t been made. He still believes he will fight in Curitiba, and everybody is cheering for that. Imagine how it would be, the first UFC in a soccer stadium in Brazil with the biggest national idol fighting at home. Of course, Anderson would be able to pack that stadium with 45,000 people easily. Either of those could be great fights. Anderson was used to fighting three times a year for his entire career. The last three years, he fought only once per year. Now, he wants to return to the routine of three fights per year, and he feels the opportunity to fight in his home, Curitiba, would be unique for him.”

The Brazilian turns 41 in a little over a month.

It’s been a rough couple of years for the one-time pound-for-pound king of mixed martial arts (MMA). After coughing up his title to Chris Weidman, “The Spider” spent a year on the sidelines with a broken leg, then took another mandatory vacation after flunking a drug test.

The sooner he can get back into the win column, the better.
