Travis Browne vs. Oleksiy Oliynyk scheduled for UFC 213 on July 8

The famous International Fight Week pay-per-view (PPV) card is beginning to take form, as former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) top heavyweight contender Travis Browne steps back inside of the Octagon to take on Oleksiy Oliynyk at UFC 213 on July 8 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. MMA Fighting confirmed the booking earlier this week.

Browne, 34, is currently experiencing the worst drought of his professional career, losing three fights in a row during the span of just seven months. His most recent defeat at the hands of Derrick Lewis at UFC Fight Night 105 essentially booted “Hapa” from any ongoing title discussions. Browne will have to string a few good performances together to regain his once promising divisional worth.

Oliynyk, 39, has been one of the more underrated heavyweights on the roster since entering UFC back in 2014, compiling a 3-1 promotional record since then. “The Boa Constrictor” has dismantled opponents with world-class grappling en route to becoming the first fighter in UFC history to win via Ezekiel choke. The accomplished Russian veteran will look to add Browne to an already-clad resume that currently stands at 51-10-1.

Browne vs. Oliynyk will join a UFC 213 fight card that already has former heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum taking on Alistair Overeem in a rematch from their 2011 meeting and former UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler making his return opposite Donald Cerrone.
