Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will crown a new 125-pound division No. 1 contender at the conclusion of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 24, which begins filming on FOX Sports 1 this June and wraps with a live season finale in December.
But don’t worry, said contender will have one of the world’s top flyweights — Joseph Benavidez or Henry Cejudo — helping him train for the chance to pull the sword from the proverbial stone. That’s because “Joe Jitsu” and “The Messenger” have been named as opposing coaches.
They’ll also face off in the main event of the live finale on Dec. 3 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Don’t bother trying to audition, either, as the promotion will instead scour the globe for flyweight champions currently competing in other promotions. I guess that proves how little I know about the fight game because I would have guessed there were … two?
TUF 24: “Team Benavidez vs. Team Cejudo” premieres on FOX Sports 1 on Weds., Aug. 31, 2016 at 10 p.m. ET.
